As a kid, I spent countless hours building Lego sets from Lego Friends, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Lego City. Over time, legos became very nostalgic and treasured objects in my life. 👧🏻💌

This project was an opportunity to bring to life something I had always wanted: a giant Lego brick (even cooler if it could light up). 💁🏻♀️💡

While gathering inspiration for my mood board, I thought about a previous personal project I had done: I designed my own typeface inspired by Lego. It was called “BUILD,” — designed to carry the same colorfulness and playfulness that I associated with Lego. After gathering all my inspiration, I started modeling the Lego brick in Autodesk Fusion 360. 👩🏻💻

In Fusion, I first created the Lego brick itself, then hollowed it out, modeled an insert the light fixture could sit in, created holes for the cord to feed through, and finally added a lid.

After more than 12 hours of 3D printing, I hand-sanded it down to smooth out some of the rough edges.

Hope you enjoy the final product and thanks for sticking around to hear my process! 🧍🏻♀️
